Big trip report #3: Northern KY, The Creation Museum, & Ark Encounter
After giving you the overview of our epic journey, see the last two posts, I figured I'd give some more detail about our travels with Frolic.
The First day of our trip took us to Corinth KY. We setup at Three Springs Campground. TSC is a small
family-owned facility. The sites are grassy and gravel. There is enough space between sites so that we didn't feel crowded.
Corinth is about an hour south of Cincinnati OH.
This was the actual day of our 50th so I had planned a nice evening out at the Bouquet restaurant in Covington KY, just across the river from Cincinnati, https://www.bouquetrestaurant.com/.
When we got off the interstate and entered Covington, it looked like a bigger version of our home town, Covington VA, an aging mill-town that had seen better days. However, as we drove down
Main Street and got closer to the address of the restaurant, everything changed. I commented that it looked like a place put together by our artsy granddaughter. Restaurants, bakeries, pubs, and the like are everywhere. The sidewalks are full of tables and chairs for outdoor dining. Old buildings have been rehabbed. It reminded me a bit of Key West. We found the Bouquet, but finding a parking spot was much harder. We ended up in a public lot about six blocks away. We were supposed to pay to park but the kiosk was broken, another parker commented that he was having trouble with the "app," so... We were already a bit late so we took a chance. Fortunately, no ticket awaited us on our return.
We guys love it when our plans work out. Kathy knew we were going out to eat but didn't know where.
She was pleased, and, of course, she was beautiful. We are pretty simple folk, so a four-course dinner was something special. It didn't disappoint.
After the night in Frolic and much less fancy breakfast, we met our friends, Harry and Joyce Ramsey at the exit off I 75 near the Ark Encounter. Joyce and Harry are volunteers at the Museum and Ark. They
have wanted us to join them there for a long time. Our time overseas, Covid, and health issues had prevented our getting together. This was a great opportunity. We enjoyed our time with them.
These two attractions are first-class. They tastefully, respectfully, but clearly present a young-earth creationist position. We enjoyed lunch at the cafeteria at the Museum and dinner at the Buffet next to the Ark. The experience and the company were great.
Next, we continue west. Stay tuned.
