Big Trip #8, Colorado & Utah

I have been distracted for a while, so I haven't continued my big-trip posts. Actually, at least some of my distraction has been Frolic related. We took a trip to South Carolina for a family reunion. Since my Brother-in-law, who was hosting the affair, we short on bed space, we took Frolic along as an extra bedroom. Then, more recently, I have been building a "camperport" on the back of my garage as winter quarters for Frolic. That and life happens.

Anyhow, from South Dakota we headed down to Canon City (pronounced like a big gun) Colorado. We parked the trailer in front of our friend's house and enjoyed several days of her hospitality. We went hiking in the surrounding countryside and enjoyed a train ride through the Royal Gorge.

From Canon City we made our way to Colorado Springs, where our boys had given us two nights at the Garden of the Gods Resort. We not only enjoyed the plush room, a meal at one of the resort's restaurants, the awesome scenery, but, also, a trip to the Colorado Springs Zoo.

We reached our greatest altitude while crossing from Colorado Springs to Carrington and Harrison's house (our Granddaughter and her Husband), near Provo Utah. We watched the elevation signs as we traveled. The highest, 11,000 feet, was in the ski country we passed through. All in all it was a gorgeous leg of our trip.
We really enjoyed our time at C&H's new house. Our time in this part of Utah was more family than scenic oriented. One doesn't have to go far, though, to enjoy the beauty of the Wasatch Mountains that tower over the valley.

From the Grandkid's house, we traveled South in Utah. Stay tuned.

We camped in Frolic for the first time. It's officially done.
